Warranties
At Fly Rides we support warranties for all the bikes we sell! The actual length and coverage is set by the manufacturer, so it varies from brand to brand. Warranties are typically for different lengths on the frame, electric components, and the rest of the parts, collectively called "moving parts". As long as you buy the bike fully built or have a bicycle technician sign off on the build, your full warranty (including on the moving parts) will be activated.
Maintenance and repair:
As with all bicycles, your new bike will need to be kept clean and lubricated, and will need occasional repair and maintenance, including but not limited to:
- Chain lubrication
- Shifting adjustments
- Adding air to tires
- Flat tire repair
- Tightening of bolts
- Brake bleeds / adjustments and pad replacements
- If equipped, shock pressure adjustments and shock maintenance
Due to the nature of bicycles and how they are ridden, bolts holding the parts together can loosen over time and need to be tightened, and drivetrain parts like chains and cassettes wear out with use. This is all considered normal wear and tear. Added on accessories like racks and child seats should be checked for tightness before every use.
Specifically with electric bikes, the batteries must also be maintained. Li-ion batteries should not get too cold or too hot- think of them as a puppy and don't leave them sitting in a hot car or freezing garage! Also, the battery charge cannot get too low- they have a battery management system inside to regulate the cells, and this causes a very small drain on the battery. This means that if you leave your battery sitting without charging it for 2 months or more, the charge could drop so low as to void the warranty on the battery. We recommend getting a power strip and timer if you plan to go on a long trip away from your bike. If a battery has been drained too low, it can void the warranty.
Failure to adequately maintain your bike could lead to injury or damage, and this damage is not covered under warranty.
