Shipping and Local Pickup

Of course we'd prefer you to purchase your bike locally at our shop in gorgeous southern California! But we know that sometimes this isn't possible. If that's the case we would be honored to be your online retailer and we take great pride in offering the best service you can get with an online purchase.

  • Local Pickup in shop

If you're picking up your bike at our San Diego location, we will provide you with an estimate of when it will be ready, and alert you as soon as it is to make an appointment. Our mechanics will build the bike and make sure everything is in order before handing it off to you.

We recommend taking advantage of our free fitting session appointment when you pick up your bike!  We'll adjust the bike to fit you best, set your suspension if applicable, go over the bike thoroughly with you, and have you test ride it so we can dial it in.

  • Local Delivery

Also referred to as White Glove Delivery.

This method is limited based on the service area of our delivery partner- please note that if you pick this method and it turns out our partner is unable to deliver to your address, our team will reach out to arrange another method of delivery.

For our White Glove Delivery orders, we build the bike and test it thoroughly in our service shop.  The bike and its manual and any other accessories are picked up and safely transported to your delivery address.  The driver will arrange a time to meet you for the delivery, and will walk you through the bike's controls and help you adjust the fit if needed.

This is a great option if you have limited time or ability to have a bike mechanic build or look over your bike.

  • In-Box Delivery

If you choose this method, your bike will be delivered about 80% assembled, in a box, with a lot of padding to ensure safe delivery. Before shipment, our service team inspects the bike to make sure it works properly and that everything that should be included, is! We then repack the bike with extra materials.

Receiving your bike:  It is important that when you receive your bike you inspect the box before accepting it from the shipper. If you notice significant damage (box is crushed or has large holes in it), deny the shipment and fill out the required forms with the shipping provider. Please notify us by filling out a Support Request Form if this is the case and once we receive and inspect the damaged bike, we will issue a replacement if available, or a full refund if this product is no longer available.

Shipping ETAs: Fly Rides wants you to get your bike as soon as humanly possible!!  We give you our best estimate of shipping times, based on experience.  Unfortunately delays do occur due to shipping provider issues and other events.  We will update you if there is a delay in getting the bike from our warehouse, and will send tracking info the same day we send the bike.

    Approx. shipping windows:

    • Bikes from local warehouses will ship from Fly Rides within 5-8 business days.
    • Bikes shipping from non-local warehouses will ship within 8-12 business days.
    • Bikes received or already in inventory generally ship within 2 business days.
    • Customized bikes are built to order and will have varying dates for delivery.

Please be aware that if you have ordered additional accessories or customized your bike, the shipping window will most likely be extended.

Once bikes are shipped, tracking info will be sent to you.

  • Have your bike built/checked by a professional

We highly recommend having a qualified bicycle technician build or inspect your bike for correct setup. This will ensure your safety, reduce likelihood of damage to the bike, activate your Full Warranty, and qualify you for a Bike Build Rebate ($50 for most bikes).

Here are some good ways to go about it:

    1. Your local bike shop builds the bike.
    2. A mobile bike tech comes to your home and builds the bike.
    3. You build the bike and have a local tech (in shop or mobile) check it over for safety and correct setup, before you ride it.

Have the bike tech fill out our Quality Assurance checklist, and submit it along with your receipt within 30 days of receiving your bike.  We'll issue your rebate within 3 business days after your submission.

  • Riese & Muller brand electric bikes only

R&M bikes are shipped ready-to-ride* with a few things to be done when unboxing.  Fly Rides provides tools and instructions on how to install the pedals, align the handlebars, and tighten the headset.  Your Full Warranty is active in this case.

  • Build it yourself

If you prefer to build your bike on your own, you will still have a warranty but it will be limited to the frame, motor, controller, and battery and you will waive the moving parts warranty.  For instance, if your derailleur limit screws are not set correctly and your chain jumps off and causes damage, that would not be under warranty.  This option is not recommended unless you are an experienced bike tech and feel confident that you can recognize any possible issues while building the bike.

If you have an issue at some point with your bike that you want to be repaired under warranty, we will require a receipt from the mobile tech or shop that signed off on the bike being built correctly. The receipt must be dated within 30 days of receiving the bike.

We will confirm the method you choose on your sales agreement before shipping the bike.
